Bio’s

CryWolf is a 3 man acoustic rock ‘n’ roll cover band that plays locally at private/family/holiday functions, neighborhood parties, corporate events, and weddings.  We love playing the songs from the late 60’s to the 90’s, along with a few more current songs. We’ve put away our heavy electric guitars and amps, drum kits, and light show equipment in exchange for something different. With only 3 members we have a smaller footprint, fit into smaller spaces, and also a smaller budget! Two acoustic guitars, a drum machine customized to the songs, and a lead singer with backing vocals. We set up and tear down quickly. While you’ll certainly know we’re there, you’ll be able to have a conversation while we play without yelling over a wall of noise. Our music will take you back to a time when life seemed simpler and less stressful. Whatever event you may be planning, we’ll make it even more memorable.

Phil:lead vocals, digital drum machine programmer. Being the youngest of 7 boys in the 60’s, he was exposed early to rock greats like the Beatles, the Stones, the Beach Boys, etc. and has retained a love for music. Originally from Texas, he started playing drums as a teenager and immediately formed a band with some local kids and became the lead singer and drummer. Soon after, he wanted to expand his musical horizons, so he acquired an acoustic guitar and taught himself how to play. He has mostly done solo gigs over the years with his guitar, but recently was the lead vocalist for the classic rock band Living the Dream while living in the Phoenix area. He now enjoys bringing back great rock music with the boys in CryWolf. His hobbies include watching sports, playing guitar/songwriting, riding powered skateboard, skiing, hiking, traveling, and photography. Phil has 2 grown boys and 2 grandchildren.

Steve: guitar, harmonica, backing vocals. Steve’s obsession with the acoustic guitar began as a youngster when he heard his uncle play Bob Dylan on a Brazilian Rosewood dreadnought. Although his passion for the acoustic never went away, he did succumb to the pressures of wanting to pick up the ladies in high school by slapping the bass in a punk/ska band out of West Jordan. He is thrilled to be in a band once again playing REAL music. When he’s not trying to learn songs from the best era of rock ‘n’ roll, Steve enjoys repairing guitars and spending time with his wife and two children.

Jim: guitar, backing vocals.  His previous band, Gram-Negative Rods, was a very busy and popular bar band in the mid-90’s where they played the entire club circuit. Jim plays using a minimum of effects with his Taylor acoustic guitar. On occasion he uses an eBow. He’s been employed in the healthcare industry for 36 years and spends his spare time doing the hobbies he loves: gardening, cooking, mountain biking, and card magic. Raised in southern California, he graduated from the University of Utah in business where he attended school on a football scholarship and then played professional baseball. His biggest prize are his 3 great kids.
